If you’re a small business in Dublin, here’s what really makes a website work.

If you’re a small business owner in Dublin (or anywhere in Ireland), you’ve probably heard people say you need a website. And honestly, it’s true but just having a website isn’t enough anymore.

You need one that actually brings in business.

I build affordable, SEO-friendly websites that are clean, fast, and made to help you show up on Google and get more enquiries. And from what I’ve seen working with local Irish businesses, there are a few key things that really make the difference.

1. Keep it simple and clear

When someone lands on your site, they should instantly know:

• What you do

• Why they should trust you

• And what to do next (e.g. call, message, get a quote)
  No fluff. Just clear, friendly, and honest. A good layout and real photos go a long way here.

2. Make sure it’s mobile-friendly

Most people browse on their phones these days. If your site isn’t easy to use on mobile, it’ll turn people off and Google won’t like it either.
Every site I build is fully responsive across mobile, tablet and desktop.

3. Speed matters

People are increasingly impatient online. If your site takes too long to load, they’ll just leave. I always make sure the websites I build are lightweight and fast.
Even simple things like image compression and clean code make a big difference.

4. Get the basics of SEO right

You don’t need to do anything mad here, but you do need the fundamentals:

• Good page titles

• Meta descriptions

• Headings that make sense

• Clear content that uses the right keywords
  If you’re in Dublin and want to show up when someone searches “plumber near me” or “local web designer,” you’ve got to give Google the signals it needs.

5. Use real images if you can
