Launching a Website in Ireland? Don’t Skip These 10 Must-Haves
If you're planning to launch a new website for your business in Ireland, this guide is for you. Whether you're a local plumber in Athlone, a yoga teacher in Kinsale, or running a café in Galway, your website is often the first impression people will get of your work.
Before you hit publish, here are 10 essentials your website should have in 2025 to look professional, perform well on Google, and bring in real business.
1. Mobile-Optimised Design
Over 70% of web traffic in Ireland now comes from phones. If your site isn’t mobile-friendly, you're missing out on a big chunk of potential customers. Google also gives preference to mobile-friendly sites, so it’s a must if you want to show up for searches like “web design Ireland” or “eco-friendly website designer Dublin”.
2. Clear Calls to Action (CTAs)
Before you launch, ask yourself: do visitors know what action you want them to take? Whether it’s calling you, booking a slot, or requesting a quote, make sure it's obvious. A simple button like “Book Now” or “Get a Free Quote” can go a long way.
3. Fast Loading Speed
People don’t wait for slow websites. And neither does Google. A fast-loading site keeps people engaged and helps your rankings. Keep your design lightweight, images optimised, and avoid unnecessary plugins. I usually use Framer or Elementor with a bare theme to make sure the speed stays snappy.
4. Strong Local SEO Setup
Get specific with your location. Use your town or county across your headings and site content, phrases like “web designer Naul”, “affordable web design in Meath”, or “eco website developer Ireland” help people find you locally. Set up a Google Business Profile too and make sure your Name, Address, and Phone Number are consistent across the web.
5. Google Analytics & Search Console Connected
You’ll want to know who’s visiting your site, how they got there, and what they’re doing. Connect Google Analytics and Search Console before launch. I always do this for clients, so from day one, you’re able to see what’s working and what needs a tweak.
6. SEO Basics Covered
Even if SEO sounds intimidating, the basics aren’t. Add keywords in your page titles and headings, write descriptive image alt-text, create a simple site structure, and link between pages (like I did in this portfolio piece). Then submit your sitemap in Search Console so Google can crawl your site properly.
7. Trust Signals
Before people contact you, they’ll want to know you’re trustworthy. Add testimonials, showcase past projects, display Google reviews, and include a privacy policy and contact form. It builds confidence, especially if you're just launching or starting to grow online.
8. A Blog That Helps, Not Just Sells
Even one or two blog posts can help your SEO and show you're active. Try writing a short guide like “how to choose a web designer in Dublin” or “what to include on your first business website”. It builds trust and can help you rank for more niche, long-tail keywords.
9. Simple, Clear Navigation
Your menu should be easy to follow: Home, About, Services, Portfolio, Blog, Contact. No jargon, no drop-downs with 12 options. The simpler it is, the more likely someone will explore.
10. A Design That Feels Like You
Lastly, don’t forget personality. Your site should reflect the vibe of your business. Whether it’s earthy and natural, bold and modern, or calm and minimal design plays a huge role in how people feel when they land on your page. Make sure it feels like you!
I hope this helps you gain some clarity and understand some key areas of focus when launching your site.
All the best,
Luke
